Fall Colors

I decided to do a week of fall colors in the area. They're about at peek color and wanted to get pictures before all the leaves fall off the trees. All of the pics were taken at Wildwood Metro Park and Toledo Botanical Gardens except on Oct. 17. That was taken at my parents. The weather this week sucked, which is why all the pictures have a cloudy sky.

October 17
This last one is taken at my parents house. When the sun is shining, the colors almost glow.

October 16
The trees are like an arch over the paved trail.

October 15
Again, it had rained earlier in the day. I walked down a wooden boardwalk and came across this lonely leaf.

October 14
I took a picture of this bush a week earlier and it was a bright yellow. Now it is changing to a red/brown.

October 13
This was looking up through a tree that was yellow and slowly changing to red. The red leaves were at the top.

October 12
It had rained earlier in the day and knocked some of the sassafras leaves off the trees.

More pics!

October 11

My mom and I went to the Applebutter Festival in Grand Rapids, OH. It's basically a big craft show where the main attraction is the making of the applebutter. This is my good find. For the past 5 or 6 years I've getting something to put in the yard. This is one of my favs.
October 10
My friend and I went apple picking at McQueen's Apple Orchard. We started off in the Jonathan apples then headed over to the red delicious and golden delicious. I think these are the Jonathan apples.

October 9
Ross and I saw Toy Story 1 &2 in 3D. Awesome movies!!
October 8
I had a training class that us also used as a wedding reception hall. This was a chandelier that was in the lobby. It was a lot more sparkely in person.

October 7
My school teacher friend invited me to go to an arts festival for her fellow teachers. It basically was a time for other companies to show you their services in case you want them to come in for art day. There was a few story telling people, the Toledo Symphony Quintet, blues singers, etc. I didn't check in because I'm not a teacher and didn't know if I was allowed to be there. So as each act was done, door prizes were drawn. It came down to the last prize-a hand blown bowl from the Toledo Museum of Art. Yup, I won!! This is the bowl. It now has Dots in it.

October 6
These are some fun Halloween decorations that I found while unpacking the decorations at my parents.

October 5
This is my fan I have at work. It is a retro desk fan that plugs into the usb port on my computer. It's doesn't blow very hard, but it does the trick in the summer time. Before long, I'll have to pack it away for the winter.
October 4
I helped decorate my parents yard for Halloween. My grandparents had these scottie dog statues (painted black). When my grandparents passed away, my mom took 2 and my aunt took 2. My dad painted ours white to look like our dog we used to have- a West Highland White Terrier. I decorate them with doggie costumes. You can kind of see the other one in the back with a black cape.

October 3
We went to an Oktoberfest at The Blarney. You can kind of see the band through the fog. They are dressed as 80s rockers. They were pretty good-played 80s music.

October 2
We went to Club Avalon to watch a fellow teacher who moonlights as a dj. If you look in the middle of the picture, there is a person walking. At first I thought did I get a ghost? I didn't use the flash, so if there was someone walking, they'd be a blur-or would they? dah-dah-dah.

October 1
Today is the first day of October. What better than to have a Halloween decorations. This is one of the new ones that Ross bought. It's white when it's not lit.

September 30
This is an abandoned church that I pass on one of my ways back to my office. Some of the old churches around Toledo are really neat looking. I bet they were even better when they were open.

September 29
The new Lucas Arena construction is complete. The opening game for the Toledo Walleye is Oct. 16.

September 28
My in-laws went to northern Michigan for a vacation. They brought us back this basket. We use it for napkins on the dining room table.
